 Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Do your ideas and insights apply to all areas of professional services?

A. In principle, yes. However, the services most impacted by Web 2.0 are those that are advisory in nature such as business consulting, coaching, marketing, design, corporate finance, legal and tax related expertise.

Q. How can I find out more about Web 2.0?

A. Wikipedia has a good general outline with a balance of supporters and critics listed. The Web 2.0 video by Prof Michael Wesch of Kansas University is a real eye-opener for what the concept is all about.

Q. What tools & services have you used to develop your site, blog and client workspaces.

A. I use Office Live to support my ePresence and marketing activities, Live Spaces for the blog and customised sites hosted by Office Live for client collaboration. All these tools have been pushed to their limits with templates and additional components.

Q. Do you still use desktop applications?

A. Fraid so. A lot of the features I need and speed of response isn't quite available in the office and business web applications that are around at the moment.

Q. Do you think Web 2.0 is all hype?

A. Not sure yet! There's no doubt that there is a big difference in how you think about and use the Web when you interact with Web 2.0 driven sites and communities. I'm amazed at the range of tools and components that exist - the limiting factor is your own ability to adapt and see what works for you.
